Frequently Asked Questions

How long will a newborn session take?

During newborn sessions  it really depends on how the baby is. If he/she is a light sleeper it might take a little while longer than originally anticipated. We are on “newborn time”.

Do I need to bring my own props?

For Newborn Sessions I provide all the props and actually prefer to use my own. If you have anything particularly sentimental you would like to use, please feel free to bring it.

When should I schedule my newborn session?

Months before your newborn baby arrives! Typically newborn sessions are done during the first week of birth. They are sleepier during that time, which makes them easier to position and capture.

Where do newborn sessions take place?

I have a studio located in Murfreesboro for all my newborn sessions.

When Should I schedule my maternity session?

Between 30-35 weeks pregnant.

What should I expect?

Newborns: I keep the room 80 degrees in order to keep baby warm enough to be comfortable and comfortably nude. Be sure to dress in layers so you aren’t miserably hot! If you would like to bring a change of clothes please feel free to do so. You will receive a newborn prep packet before your session with more details of what to expect during your session.

Children/Family/Maternity: During the spring, summer, and fall months sessions are outdoors and in the evening. You will receive more information about your session via email. Winter month sessions are still outdoors but held earlier due to the time change.

What should I or my child wear?

I love taking colorful pictures. So unique, bright colored clothing works great for what I try to capture. Anthropologie, Altar’d State, Baby Gap, & Old Navy  are great clothing companies that offer modern colorful clothing. I prefer casual wear versus Sunday best. Try to choose clothing for your family that color coordinates rather than matching. The family photos where everyone wears a white or black shirt are dated and belong in the 90’s ;).

My photographer and friend recently adopted and she is busier than expected with him. Therefore, I scrambling to find someone to take his newborn photos.
